Why Trying Harder isn't Working

Sometimes the path to the outcome is letting go of the outcome.

Hear me out.

I took a class on improving sleep quality through mindfulness. This was specifically geared towards people with sleep disruptions and insomnia.

The quote that stuck out most to me from the entire class was "Sleep is involuntary. The moment we try to control it, we activate performance monitoring, which increases wakefulness."

Basically, if you think about how you aren't sleeping or shoulder be sleeping, or start to panic that you aren't sleeping - you have now made it nearly impossible to actually sleep.

This idea can be applied to many things in life:

Sleep.Confidence.Healthy eating.Relationships.

Exercise.

Habits.

They're all a little like trying to hold an egg in your hands.

Squeeze tighter...

and the egg breaks.

Where can you practice letting go of the outcome today? 🥚
